Producer and Engineer Mark Opitz was asked to do the impossible, re-record Rose Tattoo classics.

Not only did he commit to that, he did it in Sydney, at Hercules Street Studios where he had never worked! That’s where I stepped in to make his life as comfortable as possible

Like all music sessions, they run over time. When it was time for mixing Mark said to me: “I need to go to Italy to make a record, finish the mix“. With raised eyebrows, I let the shock give me momentum and rose to the task (Pun intended)

With phone calls from Angry, and Bob Spencer (guitar) by my side — we mixed the darn thing…not without comments from the great Harry Vanda.

My favourite moment of the whole process was when Mark Opitz showed me the AC/DC guitar technique that stayed with me forever!
